Guidance for New Members
GUIDANCE FOR NEW MEMBERS
OPEN DAY Usually held late April when we welcome Members to pay subscriptions and have a roll up session. We also welcome potential new members to try bowling with a view to becoming Full Members. Bowls, Shoes and Coaching are available.
A FIXTURE CARD is published in late March and distributed to all Full and Social Members on payment of their subscription. Fixtures are also displayed on notice boards or use this link
GATE KEYS are available from the Office allowing members access to the club. Lockers are also available. A deposit is required.
COACHING is available to all members on a Saturday Morning or on request
DRESS CODE for all matches is indicated on the Fixtures Card.
Whites - White Trousers/Skirts/Shorts and a Club Shirt
Greys - Grey Trousers/Skirts/Shorts and a Club Shirt
Bowling Shoes must be worn at all times on the Green
CLUB COMPETITIONS are held throughout the season. Details are circulated with Membership Forms and need to be returned with payment as detailed. There is a Novice Cup for all members with less than 5 years bowling experience and no individual finals wins. Information will appear on the Notice Boards.
FUNDRAISING AND SOCIAL EVENTS take place during the winter e.g. Quiz Nights, Race Nights, Bingo, Carpet Bowls, Film Nights and Whist/Crib. The bar is open every Friday Evening during the off Season.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS can be approached at any time for advice and guidance and also comments to be put forward for discussion at their next committee meeting.
THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING is held in November. The Club Dinner and PresentationEvening is also held in November. Notices will be circulated to all members.
NOTICE BOARDS Main Corridor outside Changing Rooms and in Dining Room. There is also an alphabetical post box for members outside the changing rooms
FIXTURES Team Sheets are displayed for all matches. Please add your name as soon as possible so that the Captains can select a suitable team. Matches are for Men, Mixed and Ladies Games. Once selected please indicate, by ticking the sheet, that you can play and for Away Matches whether you will travel Direct. Dietary requirements can also be added.
MATCH FEES vary from game to game but are usually £2.00 (tea and biscuits) or more if further refreshments or a meal is being provided.
TURN UP AND PLAY Tuesday Morning for Full Members Only – coffee/tea/biscuits available. Friday Evening for Full and Social Members when Burgers and Hot Dogs are available.
