Disability Bowls England requirements

Further to our match against DBE (Disability Bowls England) on 7th May 2024, we thought it would be a good idea to advise you of some points.

Judy explained that the members of DBE are all fiercely independent and are automatically provided any help that they need when bowling.

On the back of this we do have some members that are less able and this message is to ensure that all members understand what DBE require.

  1. All Wheelchair users must be independent and provide their own Pusher for the wheelchair
  2. Any less able member can ask any club member to be a helper for any Matches,  Competitions or Roll Ups if they need assistance.  This helper would be expected to put the mat down, pick up their woods if necessary, collect the bowls in the pushers and at times measuring but this helper should not be a team member or a member of the opposing team
  3. In a singles competition they would also need a marker.

It is the aim of ATBC to be as helpful as it can to all of its members and if you could provide any assistance to your colleagues please do so but only if you are physically able.

If any member has any questions about this matter please contact the club
